Using either a laptop or handheld that is Wi-Fi 802.11b wirelessly-enabled, you can access the Internet or your corporate intranet at speeds up to 50 times faster than dial-up.

2. What is the Pleasant Harbor Marina HotSpot coverage area?
Pleasant Harbor Marina HotSpot coverage varies with distance from antenna, weather conditions and quality of the receiving computer's antenna. Please review the coverage map.

3. What if I'm outside of the coverage map?
The coverage map is an approximation of the Wi-Fi coverage area. Temperature, weather conditions, and boats in slips between you and the transmitter will effect coverage.

4. Are you expanding the coverage area?

8. Can I connect using a Palm handheld device?
Yes, Palm handhelds that support Wi-Fi 802.11b wireless technology and utilize a standard Internet-ready browser, such as the Tungsten C, are compatible with the Pleasant Harbor Marina HotSpot network.


9. What if I have problems accessing my VPN or Corporate Intranet?
If you are experiencing any problems accessing your corporate network using a virtual private network (VPN), please contact your company technical support center.

10.What constitutes SPAM?
Generally, SPAM is unsolicited bulk email, usually in the context of promotions or advertisements for products or services, that you may receive from time to time. Although in individual cases, SPAM is nothing more than an annoyance to the recipient, in the aggregate, SPAM can have a significant adverse effect on network and computer performance. 11. What is Pleasant Harbor Marina’s SPAM policy?
Our terms and conditions of service, which our customers must accept as a condition to their use of the network, prohibit any use or attempt to use our network for any fraudulent, unlawful, harassing or abusive purpose, or so as to damage or cause risk to our business, reputation, employees, subscribers, facilities, or to any person. In an effort to help protect its customers and their ability to use the network, Pleasant Harbor Marina reserves the right to not send emails through its network that have been identified as potential SPAM. Wireless user access may then be temporarily or permanently restricted.


13. What can I do to reduce the SPAM I receive?
If you are receiving SPAM, you can respond to the sender and request that they stop. Keep in mind, however, that by so notifying the sender, you confirm that your email address is valid. There is no guarantee that the sender will stop sending you SPAM. Another possibility would be to contact the Internet service provider that is the source of the SPAM and request that they cause this activity to cease. You may also elect to purchase and install an anti-spam software solution.

14. What about music sharing or downloading?
Pleasant Harbor Marina will not tolerate peer to peer file sharing, illegal music downloading or any other illegal activities on the HotSpot network. When detected, Pleasant Harbor Marina will immediately suspend the suspected network devices and notify the appropriate authorities.
